Three Excellent Nonprofit Management Books
Need a break from the holiday movies and jigsaw puzzles? Wondering what to do with that Amazon gift card? Ready to get a jump on your New Year’s resolutions? Here’s three excellent books that will help you to be a better leader and manager in 2021:
Managing to Change the World is an outstanding how-to guide. Whether you’re setting goals, holding a check-in meeting, delegating an assignment or performing any of dozens of management tasks, this book offers a treasure trove of tools for nonprofit managers at all levels. More of a reference book than a page-turner, it’s well laid out so you can easily find what you need.
I’ve raved about Crucial Conversations before in this space. There’s no better book to help you improve your communication skills. Full stop. If you’ve been managing for a while, there’s a good chance you have it on your shelf. For everyone else, time to pick up your copy.
Leadership on the Line knows that your biggest problem isn’t change—it’s the reaction to change that will get you. If you aren’t prepared for those reactions, then you and your change effort will fail. Understanding those reactions is the first step, but then the authors suggest a range of approaches that will equip you for success.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a very happy new year.
